At 2:23 p.m. on Tuesday, Detectives Brian Hambrecht and Ermindo Marsini stopped a vehicle in the beach block of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, police said.
During the stop, three occupants were arrested after each was found in possession of drugs, according to Lt. Kevin Fair, an Atlantic City Police Department spokesman.
- Stephon Hauser, 29, of Camden possessed about 18 grams of marijuana and 14 grams of cocaine, Fair said.
- Raheem Miller 28, of Chesapeake, Maryland, possessed about 500 bags of heroin, Fair said.
- Tahshid Thompson, 31, of Camden possessed about 200 bags of heroin and 10 grams of cocaine, Fair said.
All three were charged with drug dealing offenses. Hauser, Miller and Thompson were released on a summons with a future court date.
About 35 minutes later, Detectives Darrin Lorady, Alberto Valles and Christopher Smith attempted to stop Damonyea Mallory, 30, of Atlantic City in the first block of south Indiana Avenue, Fair said. Mallory began to flee.
As he was running, Mallory threw a loaded handgun over a fence, Fair said. Mallory was apprehended two blocks away by Officers Zayon Pitts and Scott Crawford. The recovered handgun had been reported stolen from South Carolina, police said.
Mallory was charged with possessing a weapon, hollow-point ammunition, stolen property and narcotic paraphernalia as well as obstruction of justice and resisting arrest, Fair said.
Mallory was being held at the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
